The word 'racist' lost all meaning for me the day I was accused of racism for daring to say North and South America are two different continents. People just throw it around for anything they happen to feel like on the day.
I'm feeling offended by your use of the word "people".

ES, the only thing that is even close to anime that I have enjoyed, was the Teen Titans tv show. My daughter is into stuff like Bey Blades and all that; can't stand that stuff. I seriously wonder why so many of the characters seem to be a very bad stereotype of what Japanese must think non-Japanese people are like. I find the characters overly annoying and cloying, the art is iffy, and the emotional reactions so over-the-top that it makes me wanna hurl.

Phil, I didn't say this movie would automatically be anime. Also, i don't think of Big Hero 6 as a true superhero comics genre, they seem to be in a side-category of their own, and one that i definitely do not enjoy. But by choosing such a silly hero team to think of making a movie about, it seems fairly obvious they are hoping to draw in anime fans with anime-type characters such as Big hero 6 employ on their team. (or is that reverse-anime characters?)

If they want to do a weird team, why not the Great Lake Avengers? Heck, they could have chosen the highly-irrational early lineup of the West Coast Avengers. At least neither of these is likely to be as annoying as BH6. (Plus, they'd both benefit greatly from having 'Avengers' in their title)

IF this movie gets made, i won't be seeing it.

A lot of anime is annoying, I'm pretty picky myself. The stuff that's popular with teens and tweens is usually the worst. lol Though I also HATED Teen Titans. It's such a terrible attempt at impersonating anime art but with all the predictability, shallow story telling, and lack of character development of dumbed down American children's cartoons. As for poor representations of what Westerners are like, well, unless they specify that the show is set in our world and that the characters are Westerners, that's probably not the case. Characters will have fair skin a lot of the time because the Japanese idealize fair skin, and the colorful hair and eyes is for the fun of it, really.

Has your daughter watched Cowboy BeeBop or Ghost in the Shell? Those are more serious series that are both critically acclaimed and often the exception to the rule amongst those who hate most anime. Those, and Gurren Lagann have great art and high animation quality. Though you have to watch TTGL subbed, the dub is annoying. Anyhow, my point is you shouldn't judge ALL anime based on a few bad impressions.

Sorry the convo got so OT.

    That's a possibility.
The other way to look at it is that the two biggest cartoon hits of recent years have been Ben 10 & Generator Rex, both of which were created by Man of Action, which comprises of Steve Seagle and Duncan Rouleau the creative team behind AF v2. #17 and thus the creators of BH6...

That's the thing though; they can't.
They can't make an animated film with the word 'Avengers' in because Paramount have joint rights.
They can't make an animated Spider-Man film because Sony have the rights.
They can't make an animated X-Men or FF film because Fox have the rights.

Disney are mining Marvel properties for a title suitable for an animated film.

Something like Defenders possibly makes more sense from a traditional comics point of view, but without Hulk or Silver Surfer in it (again, rights as above) it'd just be Strange & Namor and they're a tad deep and serious for a children's film.

BH6 doesn't have a legion of fans to complain when they change continuity or tweak things so it's essentially a fresh slate concept.

If it happens it'll be aimed at children; it'll be silly and wacky and over the top and have a happy ending, but that's the point.
If it's anything akin to The Incredibles I'll enjoy it for what it is, knowing at the same time that I'm not the target audience.

Don't recall either of those being motion pictures, tho.

Besides, the way Seagle ignored continuity, none of his fans have the right.

    Ben 10 was, wasn't it?

Is it relevant either way? They're big, hugely famous cartoons whether they're movies or not.

Would you sell it to the Master of the World, knowing that it was the final ingredient he needed to make a death-ray with which he would blow Alberta off of the map?

I got my copy out of a 50cent bin years ago. I just made a bazillion dollars!!! Well, US dollars. Which is like $1.23 in Canadian dollars. Enough to buy a beer?

Ooh, is that a Peter Porker reference?
