    Default O' Canada!!

This is off the wall and for pure fun. Football season is under way in Canada, the Canadian Football League (CFL). I thought it would be cool if Marvel and the CFL would work together to have an Alpha Flight Day. The commish/admin office could be Dept. H and each player of the game could be on the Alpha Flight squad. Or the league and marvel could pick a game to make specialized jersey's depicting the AF style uniform. Just my thoughts and random thinking.

I'm a big CFL fan, and would actually prefer that the CFL stay far away from Marvel headquarters. CFL is best football league in the world, associatring with Marvel would be a step down.

I am a huge CFL fan as well... B.C. Lions all the way !!!
I would trust Mark Cohon (League Commissioner) to do something fun and tasteful... but I would also trust Marvel to put their big clumsy hands all over it and muck it up.

Lions fan as well! Be nice for them to win a championship at home this year; bigger concern is health of Travis Lulay, reports are trickling in that his career may be over.

They're saying Lulay will now be out for 6 games... that's one third of the entire season.
Hoping Kevin Glenn still has some fire in that arm... the Lions are going to need it.

Bah! Stampeders all the way! I even have stuff from my favourite all-time player, Wayne Harris, and hope Nik Lewis is healthy enough to be himself one more year. I like that Bo starts tonight, Tate's better off the bench. Beat the Als, and no, keep Marvel away, I don't trust them.

Can someone explain how a team can score only one point in the CFL? Troy Smith looked like junk. Not sure which team to root for yet. I see a few people are against a Marvel/CFL team-up.

Yes, I think I can explain that. Defenses generally have a leg up over the offense early in the CFL season. Add in the new shortened pre-season, where most starting QB's get in just slightly over half a game of work before the real season starts, and you are bound to see a few games like that one.

I think Troy will be fine. Calvillo casts a long shadow. Everyone needs to take a deep breath and temper their expectations for this guy. He's a nice QB, who has had only four CFL starts in his career; he needs time.

You get a single point on a punt or missed field goal that goes out the opponent's endzone (but not on a kickoff that goes out the endzone), or on a kickoff, missed field goal, or punt that goes into the endzone and the player returning the kick doesn't get it out of the endzone. If a kickoff goes into the endzone either team can recover it, like all kickoffs, so giving up the single is worth it usually. That's how you get the exciting "kick it into the endzone, kick it out, kick it in" thing that happens about once every two years in the CFL.

Of course, if the returner gets the ball out and then takes it back into the endzone, it's a safety.

It was created because when the offence gets the ball into the endzone why should the defence get a break for not stopping them? More scoring makes things good.

I been reading the article by Peter King , MMQB, talking about the CFL. Its interesting and I am looking forward to watching more CFL. Eventually it will lead up to one day attending the Grey Cup and join in with the madness. AF.net meet and greet? Thank for the help and info fellas. Predications for the rest of the season?

In the CFL, anything is possible, no lead is insurmountable.

That said, I'd put Calgary and Toronto as the teams to beat, on paper. That would be the upper echelon right now. There's several teams that I'd slot right in below them, like the BC Lions and Saskatchewan Roughriders. Montreal has had a lot of change, so it is hard to see where they will finish. Edmonton looks like they have improved over last year, as have the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Hamilton may take a step back from last year. The Ottawa expansion team has some really good parts in place, but it is anybody's guess how they actually perform over a whole season.

    May the best team win!

Wasn't able to watch any games over the 4th weekend but looking at the recap, Montreal QB was able to have a fairly decent game, nothing overwhelming from what I see. And yes, I am much of the idea that Marvel and CFL should work together to do some sort of AF game. But the CFL is unpredictable to say the least from what I have seen and read thus far. and I am liking the Tiger-Cats.
