Is this a recent image (pun intended)? I know Liefeld has been doing art on the new(ly restarted) Youngblood series, so not sure if this is recent or a really old pic. In the old days, Rob had a real problem with chest dimensions.

It's old, still funny though. His arm is terrible too.

How did he ever get a job in this business?

All those pouches he draws were full of money.

Because he was a brilliant creature of characters. He just didn't have any formal training in the drawing side of the business.

I'm gonna come right out and say that I like Rob's work.

It may not be anatomically correct, but it's full of energy and emotion and, to me, is a nice example of stylised storytelling.
It's clearly fantasy and yeah it's not traditional fine art, but I don't want that from all my comics all the time.

Plus Rob is a very shrewd businessman, and when I met him at a con he was a really nice guy.

Thanks, Phil. Seems not too many folk stick up for Mr.Liefeld anymore. I follow him on Twitter, and find him both intelligent and witty, plus he doesn't let ANY comic company push him around.

His style isn't for everyone, but (like it or not) Rob defined a whole generation of super-heroism in the 90's; in that decade, there was Liefeld, and then there was everybody else. He has created some of the best-loved characters ever. He liked action, and he drew plenty of it.

I'm gonna come right out and say I don't hate it. Also, I hate that people complain that he can't draw feet, then complain that he covers up feet in all his picture - that's just trying to complain. Give 'im a break.

That said, I don't... and very few people like / love / respect super-"heroism" in the 90s. For reasons I agree with.
Except DC; they've made an entire campaign around bringing the 90s back.

No, I actually have taken a break from Twitter for the last three weeks or so. I do know that Rob left DC recently because of too much "editorial interference". As a Flight-lover, I can understand, empathize, and respect that. I enjoy a lot of what DC is doing right now, but i will admit that they keep a very tight reign over what stories can and cannot be told; everything has to fall within their pattern of the new DC universe they are trying to create, and therefore artists who wish to tell their own stories, don't get to. So Rob quit.

And that is all I know about that.

After I read Marvel Comics Presents 51 - 53, I wanted Rob to replace John Calimee on AF. In another thread there was talk about Rob relaunching Alpha Flight but instead he was assigned to New Mutants.

Does anyone have any his redesigns of Alpha Flight? I e-mailed Rob about a year ago asking him to post some of his redesigns for Alpha Flight but he never responded.

Heh, as stated in that thread I might have them saved on my old harddrive.
I'll try and dig it up soon.
