So evidently Jeffries sides with Cyclops and remains with his team post-schism. This essentially means that Jeffries agrees that kids should fight in battles when it is necessary. I know that he was a big part of the Alpha era that included Pathway, Goblyn and Kira but does everybody think that this is really where he is at in his life right now? I would think after losing Diamond Lil, he might not be so gung-ho on the idea. Then again, he is currently being written as somewhat of a spaceshot and it certainly is easier for a writer to keep the Science team together, though I think that it might have been more interesting to split them apart on this. What does everyone else think?
    Stop the Goblyn hate!

It's a good question. I like the idea of the Science Team sticking with Cyclops and therefore Jeffries hanging on. There's three of them... so to split up the X-Club would be kind of silly. Too bad for the other side because Jeffries is by far the biggest bad ass in the X-Men. He can rip apart a Sentinel with his mind and once e killed a huge snarly vampire beast by clenching his fist. So good for him that he stuck around with his science buddies, and the laboratory on Utopia.

Just shows that his mind isn't all there, I guess. Really, what hero would agree with kids fighting in battles?!?

I don't necessarily think it's even about the kids being killers anymore.
That may have been what triggered the schism between Wolverine & Cyclops but I think it's now about staying isolated on Utopia or going back to Westchester.
Isolation on Utopia would suit the post-Zodiac/Weapon X Jeffries more, especially with Lil at the bottom of the ocean beneath it.

I agree. Jeffries has always had the potential to be one of the most powerful mutants but, because he is fundamentally a man more concerned with science finding a more peaceful solution, I seem to like him even more as a hero.
Imagine what he could be doing in Alpha Flight right now.

This explains the rumours about Avengers Academy soon to be based on the West Coast, then? Mind you, none of the kids are mutants, so maybe that explains nothing?

Driftwood: Well, I got about a foot and a half. Now, it says, uh, "The party of the second part shall be known in this contract as the party of the second part."
Fiorello: Well, I don't know about that...
    Driftwood: Now what's the matter?
Fiorello: I no like-a the second party, either.
Driftwood: Well, you should've come to the first party. We didn't get home 'til around four in the morning... I was blind for three days!
