    Default fan expo news

    pint of cb panel:

While the main action occurs in the main title, there will be a number of spinoffs, including Dead Avengers (with appearances from dead characters like the Wasp and Captain Marvel) and Alpha Flight. The series and its spin-offs play in that interstitial space between the living and the dead and looks to be awesome! In other Alpha Flight news, the panel reported that there’s a strong likelihood that we’ll be seeing a return of the team (and its original characters) in its own series over the next 12 months.

Here's hoping. Northstar's pretty much wasted over in X-Men, and anything that kicks sand over how Bendis treated AF by bringing the team back into the land of the living is going to be welcome.

Hmm... So does that mean a new series?

I'm not as optomistic about that as the one-shot. I don't think Marvel do series very well at the mo'.

    I'll circle it warily.

Notes from twitter and Pint o' CB:

    http://marvel.com/news/comicstories....panel_liveblog

"Wacker says the editors had an hour-long Alpha Flight discussion last week, trying to figure out what if anything can be done with the team."

"Canadian creators want to work on Alpha Flight. CB would love to develop something along those lines."

"The living and dead members of Alpha Flight will be teaming up! The future of Alpha Flight? Wait and see!"

"CB says: Alpha Flight is in our hearts and minds, and thank you for your patience."

"Question: Thanks for bringing Alpha Flight back -- what are the chances of an ongoing with the original cast? Answer CB: chances in the next 12 months are good, if they are still alive."

"Question: If we do see AF come back to regular series with a Canadian creative team, like McNiven, Immonen, etc? Answer CB: I think that would be great - I think a lot of creators would jump at the chance. I would like to see the Canadian creators do a bunch of single stories with their favourite characters."

"Question: Guardian is a favourite, as James McDonald Hudson, if Alpha Flight is successful, do you see him as a potential for a solo book? Answer CB: I think it would be difficult, never say never, but he as a lot of development to do in the minds of people who aren't AF fans."

Nice to see some positive futures announced. We at AF.net will dig for more information. I promise more time from myself in the next couple months when my summer work winds up.

No problem Ben, but you sure are good at getting the goods with authors and pencilers, even editors! Good luck with summer work and the 'digging'.

I finished eaves troughs, a 10' x 10' shed, 8 shelves, a driveway, railings, and..... Brought my new daughter home.

Ooh, eaves and babies... two things that should never be dropped.

John Byrne wanted to do a Northstar and Aurora series back in the day (after he had left Alpha Flight). They would probably be a better option for a series (or a mini), especially now that their ties are closer to the X-titles.

I'd buy a Guardian series. (insert witty comment like, "Duh!", here)

I think it was Arune, Cebulski, and Wacker, but if anyone else was there, I don't know.

Makes it sound like they still are not sure about an AF series. They still do not know how to make it sell, or something that sounds like that, anyways.
