    ....then why not make them public domain?

    Give up their rights to their own characters who are tied in continuity to at least two of their big-name books? (Hulk and X-Men) I don't see that happening.

    Technically, they're Disney's characters now, and The House of Mouse is not known for being loose with the rights to their intellectual property.

    Because they don't want Alpha Flight having any dignity left. And that's because Alpha Flight characters are far more cooler than the X-Men, but Marvel must sell its X-Crap over and over again.
