Alpha Flight shout-out in Mighty Avengers

Not the most positive of mentions, but hey, anyone acknowledging they existed in-universe is something, right? In the latest issue, some Chinese team (I only skimmed it, sorry) gets totally blown away by some other guy, and USAgent weighs in with something along the lines of:

"Oh. Oh my God. He Alpha Flighted them."

He looks suitably horrified about this, at least, so it's not a glib sort of thing.

ugh...Not positive at all...Sounds like the writer (Bendis or Slott?) is trying to coin a new phrase for a super team being massacred...Ugh again.

Things like this will keep Alpha Flight from ever being respected and could possibly keep them from being brought back.

I find this extremely disturbing.

I agree wholeheartedly with Dana. Not good.

At this point, we would be much better off if Alpha Flight died out and ceased getting any mention at all for a few years. Maybe then, if they were no longer the butt of bad jokes, somebody could pitch an idea for them, a good idea, and have it taken seriously.

Marvel sucks. No, seriously...I mean it. They suck.

DC is kicking their ass right now; better plots, better writing, better art, better everything. And this is coming from a lifelong DC-hater.

Avengers Inititative is the only Marvel comic I am currently plunking down my hard-earned money on...and after the way they continue to disrespect the memory of Alpha Flight, I may just swear off Marvel altogether. I am close.

Mind you, who would care? Marvel comics? Uh, no, i do not think so! They don't give a rip for anybody, and it shows. That is why they suck so hard.

When I saw the theryve been Alpha FLighted, I got kind of mad.

Secret Invasion was good- strong early but average toward the end
Dark Reign- I stopped buying
Utopia- I read the first issue and hated it
Blackest Night- Dive DC a shot but so far so good

Indeed...A few years back, the Scarlet Witch caused the deaths of several Avengers in Avengers: Disassembled (Hawkeye, Vision, Ant-Man and Jack of Hearts)...Why isn't the Agent saying "They've been 'Disassembled'!"?

I think "I'm a Dreamer, but I'm not the only one"

I feel Marvel has given Alpha fans far too many excuses lately, stringing us along and have been just trying to keep us buying their comics (the guest-appearances of several surviving Alphans in their X-books and Snowbird's appearances in Hercules and her possible up-coming appearance in a solo story.

The guest-appearances are all fine, but what bothers me is Marvel's truth-bending and hints/lies about the possibility of a Flight book. I was personally irked by Alpha not showing up alive in Civil War (recall Guardian and Puck being in the poster for it?)

I do not for one minute, believe Marvel has an Alpha book in the works...We've even heard from on high that they don't...And such book won't materialize, until they get a "formula" that works.

You may not be the only one dreaming of a new Alpha Flight book...Dog knows I'd love to see a good Alpha Flight book featuring most or all of the original characters, but we won't see one until Marvel treats the characters with more respect and they actually accept a writer's proposal.

BTW: There may be no "Guardian" for a while anyway, due to series Guardians of the Galaxy being published...This was the main reason years ago, that the character had to be called Weapon Alpha in his first appearance, instead of Guardian as John Byrne wanted.

Well, I still say that we all should stop buying anything Marvel until we get the AF book we want. And we let them know we aren't buying anything Marvel. And we tell others to do the same thing if they're Alpha fans. I haven't bought a Marvel title in two years, and will not buy one until a new AF book is out.
