Default Alpha Flight in X-Men Poster Book (2006)

Don't ask me why it took 3 years for me to pick this up, but there are some nice appearances of Alpha Flight in the 2006 X-Men Poster Book.

Link to another site with an archived solicit

First up is Wild Child, from an unused cover to the 10th anniversary X-Men: Age of Apocalypse One-Shot by Mark Brooks, the artist for the X-Men Annual in 2007 with Northstar and Aurora on the cover. On Brooks' website, he mentions,
"This is a cover done about a year and a half ago for Marvel comics to be used as the wrap-around cover for the AoA one shot. Bryan Hitch was originally on tap to do it but his schedule was packed so Marvel tapped me to fill in. I had to draw it in about 3 days so it was a marathon for me to get it done on time. Long story short, Bryan ended up getting his cover done so mine wasn't used though it did see print in the AoA handbook and in the back of the AoA Trade paperback..."
and he provides nice large images of the poster:
    Colored
    Uncolored
Note that many of the illustrations from the AoA handbook are cropped from this poster. I had been wondering for many years where the images were from... question answered!

OK, next up is the cover art for X-Men #188, with a nice bonus: it fully shows Northstar and Aurora. You may remember that Northstar was obscured by the logo block in the original issue. A b/w variant cover was released that showed him unobscured, but also uncolored. Here you get full color, unobscured Northstar.

Then we have the cover to the OHOTMU: X-Men 2005 issue showing Northstar running in his NASCAR costume.

Finally, the inside back cover has an array of thumbnailed covers to Uncanny X-Men starting from Giant Size X-men, then issues #94 thru #131, which of course includes the amazing #109 (Weapon Alpha), #120 (Vindicator, Shaman, Sasquatch in shadows) and #121 (Vindicator, Snowbird and Sasquatch in the snow).

    Love,
    rplass
