    Default Alpha Flight 2009

    Hello!

Well, Marvel said there was plans for some type of flight in 2009.

Lets post all info, reports, comment, speculations on Alpha Flight here!

    Happy new year!

    New years Resoultion,

    1) Get AF a book.

    2) Get them a good writer and artist.

    3) Dont kill them off.

    4) Make the book worth the paper its written on.

They'd have to hire a writer who loves the book and the characters. The first Spider-Man film by Raimi was good because he loved the character. If they hire a writer whose sole purpose is to get a paycheck, it won't work.

Because Byrne created such an enduring look for AF, they'd really have to find an artist that can draw ALL of the AF members well, which is difficult.

    Hopefully, Marvel can achieve that!

Um...i thought the film was "okay". Really, i prefer a superhero flick where the hero is a H-E-R-O, not a whining baby like Parker was portrayed as.

As far as AF ... I think the most important thing to me is a writer who listens to the fans, becuz the fans are what makes it sell. Somebody who will demand that they find a way to resurrect or un-do the death of most of the original Flight members, and who will bring back other characters that have appeared in Flight over the years. A writer who will find inovative ways to tell meaningful stories revolving around good characters.

Agreed. Marvel hired a writer for the new deadpool series, and you can just see that the writer likes and feels the character.

The current writer does an awsome job captureing the emotions of deadpool.

I think if AlphaFlight can get a good writer, we can see some good adventures coming up.

Flightpath07, i thought the first spider film was good. Thats who spider man is, hes not a whineing baby, but thats what makes people like him. People can relate to being a nerd and going to school and likeing the girl and other stuff.
Besides, their was plenty of action in the film.
Now, i HATE how they made the ne wgreen goblin. he looked DUMB.

That's exactly the kind of writer Marvel needs to hire for AF, someone who loves these characters!

I think MARVEL is convinced that a new era of Alpha Flight is in order, and that the Classic team is a relic of the past. Even though characters like Flex and Radius and Murmur and Yukon Jack could not pull the book in the contempary mainstream as they believed they would. I don't know what type of book they will publish (all Canadian, half and half), and I'm kind of scared to find out.
Once upon a time, they exploded from the pages of The X-Men. For a moment, they were "Canada's answer to The Avengers."

    They were ALPHA FLIGHT....

    ...once upon a time.

If Marvel has learned from the past they will give us original AF. Anything else will fail.

Anybody considered the possibility that what we will get, is an Alpha Flight First Class series? Maybe something that picks up right before AF first appeared in X-Men, and tells unwritten stories of the original Flight, maybe even including some Gamma and Beta Flight original characters?

If so, that'd be interesting. Wouldn't it?

I'd give the Classic idea about a 10% chance. I think they might include a couple of more Canadians in Flight now, but likely not all Canadian. Though they did go more British with Captain Britain's book after Excalibur got the axe. So a more Canadian line-up with maybe only Arachne or whoever will fit the bill. Guardian, Sasquatch, Nemesis, Snowbird, Box, Arachne?

Now that Flightpath07, mentioned things about gamma and beta flights, i'd like to see a mini seires written on either of those 2.

Maybe Marvel could introduce another Homosexual superhero in Gamma or beta flight as leader or member.

    That'd be cool.

    Just my idea's.

I'll pass....The First Class books have been shown (numerous times) to throw continuity out the window (which might not be too bad in some of Alpha's case), but I really don't want to read about an alternate universe Alpha Flight.

I couldn't agree more with Commander Koenig. I think Marvel is a little too "alternate universe" happy and crossover event happy. That doesn't allow for the creative teams to fully develop their books because they have to constantly work with company mandated crossovers.

Actually, I thought that Wolverine First Class just told "untold" past stories of Wolverine and Kitty Pryde. I thought the first few issues were quite good; plus, they treated us to an original Alpha Flight appearance.

As far as I can tell, this book in no way deals with ultimate or alternate universes. I haven't read any other First Class titles, though, so maybe you are thinking about one of the other books?

My problem with books like '... First Class' is at some point they are gonna collide with what is considered established continuity. Alpha's continuity is pretty FUBAR as it is, too much delving would just mess it up more. I'd rather Marvel would draw a line under Alpha's past (Not forget it though) and create a viable future.

Fiorello: Well, I don't know about that...
    Driftwood: Now what's the matter?
Fiorello: I no like-a the second party, either.
Driftwood: Well, you should've come to the first party. We didn't get home 'til around four in the morning... I was blind for three days!
