    I don't, but I'm expecting a flashback-type situation.

Then again, if it's a way-back-when Avengers annual #17, it could be an original appearance.
(I have a couple of reprints of #16, just to mock me with it.)

No, Marrina is not in Avengers Annual #17. It takes place between #297 and #298, which was 5-6 issues after Namor "killed" the transformed Marrina.

It was also the conclusion to "The Evolutionary War", the first Marvel big summertime crossover event. Featured a team of ad hoc Avengers (since the team had broken up after #297) that included Captain America (in his guise as The Captain), the Falcon, Beast, Hulk (grey Joe Fixit version), Hercules, Jocasta, and Yellowjacket II (the female one that started out as a villain after stealing Hank Pym's outfit, then became a hero and traveled to the future with the [original] Guardians of the Galaxy, then returned home just to be killed by Tony Stark at the beginning of "The Crossing" storyline.).

There may be a passing mention to "The Leviathan" by Attuma (who is in the annual), but of that I am even doubtful upon a cursory flip-through of my copy.

Avengers Annual #16 is my favorite Avengers Annual, and one of my favorite comics ever (Top 20, I'd say).

    The ending...solid gold.

Strangely enough I think I've got that in with my Inferno issues but have obviously never bothered reading it...
    Nicely done Rob.

I'd imagine that's where the misconception comes from.
    Cheers Jason!

And it all began because somebody couldn't count.

    Has anyone got Thunderbolts #49?
ComicVine's entry of it, has suddenly been updated to include Windshear in it

Yup, it's about that invisible bullet. It's a single panel cameo showing him before he joined Alpha Flight, when he was still a Roxxon employee.

    Good. Myth's busted then!

That's the problem with open source wiki's and why I love this place so much.

Of course, there's another Talisman in the MU... maybe that's what caused the confusion?

Cool! And, I get that title regularly, so I don't have to go hunting for something new.
