    Default Alpha Flight by Hembeck

Just arrived today, and I'm totally in love with it. Fred Hembeck was a kick in the pants to commission a piece from. Funny, happy, and really quite cheap. I'll definitely send more business his way.

Heh! I really like that, how much did this set you back?

Did he draw the Fantastic 4 Roast and Marvel: What The?

Yes, Hembeck did draw the FF Roast, but only drew 3 stories in What The-?!, unfortunately, none of them with Alpha Flight. He also drew Alpha Flight in Marvel Age Annual #3 (White Sas on the cover) and in "Fred Hembeck Destroys the Marvel Universe", he drew a little cameo ghost of Mac.

That's really great! I also own a Hembeck Alpha Flight commission from 1980, (it was a college graduation present). I wish I had a copy so that I could add it to yours. Fred Hembeck is a great guy.

If you order something, tell him I sent you. It won't get you anything, but he's pretty happy about referrals. Lots of folks on the Byrne board have ordered from him lately and he's working up a blog entry about it.

A new sketch from Fred Hembeck, this time in the front of his new book, The Nearly Complete Essential Hembeck Archives Omnibus.

(sorry for the crummy scan, it's really very nice looking)

For those interested in ordering one, with or without a sketch of your choice:

Hey thanks for the tip! Wow that "how to order" page is SO HEMBECK. It's insanely Hembeck. Classic.

Is there any Alpha Flight in the book besides for your own personal custom sketch? I'll probably get one anyway, but I'm just curious.

It's over 900 pages and I've barely cracked it open. You never know, there might be a hidden gem or two.

Cleaned up and colored by the wonderful Gerry Turnbull (a regular on the JB Forum)

Just received what Fred calls an "Across the Page" commission. He takes the subjects and goes just a little bit crazier with them than his usual style. On top of that, I asked him to have Northstar and Aurora going off one side and back on the other. I think it turned out great!
