Hmmm.. Maybe to assuage his guilt, he'll become a Canadian??

    "The Guardian"

lol I love that. It's like "The Batman". The "the" does make Guardian sound more like an icon and with that, respect. Nice.

I see Mac and Puck and Marrina and part of Snowbird and Sasquatch and Shaman and Puck's head in a framed picture! Awesome! I wonder if that's a Byrne piece shrunken down like they did in issue 1 or if that's a Kolins reproduction of a Byrne piece?

It reminds me of the little picture in the Northstar LS issue#2:

Sorry, but I still don't like a non-Canadian wearing the Guardian suit, let alone the guy who killed AF, let alone calling him Guardian. grumble grumble However, I respect MO for keeping Pointer American instead of retconning him into a Canadian, that would be punking out IMO. But couldn't he have called him Weapon Omega or something? At least the writing and art are still topnotch, that really makes up for the things that bother me.

As I read this preview one thought overwhelmed me...I really hope Mailman Mike's nose doesnt begin to itch. I mean they just left him there all shackled. Thats enough to make someone go mad.
You may say I'm a dreamer...but I'm not the only one.

Venom: I want to bite their heads off and shove my tongue down their neck holes.
    Songbird: Why?
Venom: So I can lick out their hearts.

I like how the monitor that shows the Wrecking Crew on it was made by... "Bochs".

Note, the Oeming has hit every objection we've come up with so far.

    Me gusta.

Liz brings up the citizenship issue, as well as the "he killed my father" bit.

    And Walker called him "Hannibal."

Arachne is rapidly becoming more interesting to me, simply by virtue of her interactions with her daughter.

(Although, it should be "you're" an ass, not "your an ass.")
"You cannot win, mailman Mike. If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine."

Holy patoo-tey! That is one preview and a half.

What I love about OF is how consistent MAO's vision is with what has gone before - particularly in honouring fans' loyalty and memory to the original vision of the Flight.

And I like the concept of Pointer as The Guardian - also love the fact that it's THE GUARDIAN, not just Guardian anymore -- I think it's an interesting concept of a man who does not deserve the honour or who does fit the role, having to come to terms with both. Personally, I found Mac as Guardian to be rather boring - he was the uncertain hero, more scientist than soldier, but that's a card that's been played before, again and again. I think Pointer will make for an interesting The Guardian and I'll eagerly await how this develops.

Gawd, I hope all of this means that OF will become a regular. I'd be very disappointed if it doesn't.

A lot of people found him boring, but Mac's character never had a chance to develop having been "killed off" after only twelve issues by Byrne. Then add the lame manner in which he returns along with a cold, robotic personality and of course he would continue to be boring. Just when he was finally getting his emotions back he was "killed off" again in issue 100, only to return at the end of the series once more cold and emotionless. All his appearances right up to his death seemed to vary wildly from logical scientist to out of control maniac.
I always wonder what Mac would have been like had Byrne continued to develop him at the beginning, instead of leaving him to the tender mercies of later writers and guest appearances.

in all seriousness, whether your upset that this is not the original alpha, or that your upset that a american is wearing a canadian symbol, or whatever your hang-up is with this series.......how can you not be geeking out like i am for this series? oeming has hit every issue head on, kollins art is paying the best tribute i have ever seen to alpha flight (whether it be his easter eggs throughout the issues, or his renditions staying close to the originals).

that preview alone has me sooo excited for the next issue.

i really hope this becomes a ongoing and i really hope mike/scott and reber stay onboard (not sure if mike has just been busy or what, but haven't heard much from his lately on the omega front)

While disappointed with the fact this isn't Alpha, I'm not against the book. In fact I am "geeking out" because the writing and the art are so good. Hell I even said so in my post. That doesn't mean I can't have issues with certain parts of it (such as an American draped in the Canadian flag) or that I must love everything about it unconditionally. I like it, I really do, there are just some things I would like to see changed is all.

I couldn't help wanting to pencil in a word ballon in that last panel:

Pointer: "ahhhhhh, hello....a little help here"

it just totally looks like everyone left him there (including the troops that escorted him), and then turned out the lights.

    or better yet:

Pointer: "ahhh, dude, I gotta pee"
