Default Bests Shots Extra: Omega Flight #1

Here is a best shots review of Omega Flight #1 at Newsarama.

First of all, I'm very pleased to see that the team is willing, ready and eager to review the first issue of Omega early, as in my eyes they always seem to reserve that honor for either the big thing of the week or the thing that they really want to throw support behind to make sure it keeps going.

More than that, I found this to be a rather glowing review given the circumstances. Not only is there alot of praise given to the original AF in perhaps an attempt to share the glory that the first volume was to alot of unfamiliar readers, but this seems to be a really good word towards the current mini itself. While there is still some hesitation, it seems more peppered with hope than anything else, and I think some of the questions he raised as to the book's reception have already somewhat been answered by us here on this forum (such as the reception of Mike or US Agent by longterm fans of the series).

Let us hope that the series continues to receive this kind of positive reaction.

Its a good review. My only concern is that the reason he was interested is because he was an AF fan back in the day. How do we transcend that core fan base and get other, non-AF fans, to buy it? Because, frankly, we're all going to buy it - however, to be successful...really successful...it needs to be bought, read, and enjoyed by others.

Good article, I figure all the Canadian references will help calm a few people. This obviosly isn't an American driven book, no Ann Coulter as PM for example.

I like what we've seen so far, it can only help. Hopefully what else we see will only be better. Great job all around.

Default Can't wait for the actual book!

    Preview comments:

    (1) I didn't know that MARVEL already had a character named "Sedna". Damn!

    (2) Kudos to Kolins! His Walter looks like the former football player with a brain that has rarely been illustrated appropriately, and his Sasquatch is what I envision Sasquatch as looking like...not a wookie. Oh, and some depth, reflection, and humility kicked in...right on track. Kudos to MAO!

    (3) I've got no complaints about U.S. Agent, Arachne, or Beta Ray Bill.
Combined with Walter/Sasquatch, Talisman, and I hope Snowbird, Aurora, and Northstar, this may be the incarnation a lot of us have been hoping for for a long, long time.

A good story should do the trick.
Once upon a time, they exploded from the pages of The X-Men. For a moment, they were "Canada's answer to The Avengers."

    They were ALPHA FLIGHT....

    ...once upon a time.
