Thread: Alpha Question

  1. #1

    Default Alpha Question

Does anyone know who OFFICIALLY survived the Death of Alpha Flight from New Avengers?..Has Marvel ever said?

On a side note, I have a photo of a homemade Vindicator costume my Mom made for me when I was 12...anyway I took it to a convention last year and showed it to Bendis, right after he killed AF.....he actually apologized to me and signed it on the back..."I'm sorry, Bendis"....If I can get to a scanner I'll put up both sides of the photo.....I asked him how he could do such a thing to that nice kid...LOL......

This has been asked on the boards a few times, and sadly...beyond (I think) Sasquatch, no one really knows who survived. Marvel hasn't really addressed the event at all other than in New Avengers 16 and 17. Which as you know, was less than informative.

I think at this point we're all hoping the Omega Flight series will shed some light on the events.

the problem is there are alot of things that the staff say in interviews "you'll find out in omega flight" but do they really have to room? I mena they need to introduce solid characters, explain the reason for the team, explain what happened to AF, explain who gaurdian is, how sasquatch survived, how the government is takign it, if they are part of the government...and need to do this and have a solid 5 issue series.. it will be difficult

Well, Initiative might have some info, too, maybe. Omega Flight may fill in some blanks, especially once it's an ongoing again.

    nygfan,
    Great Avatar pic!

Yeah, i would agree that, although we all want all these loose threads wrapped up, and i think the creative team on OF wants them all wrapped up too, it will be extremely difficult to do in a mini series that is trying to bring in enough NEW fans to be able to hopefully launch an ongoing series out of it.
But we shall have to wait and see.
Expect greatness, but hope for perfection.

We go back to the original question - is that confirmed and official?
Or are we still speculating, based upon what we believe to be true?

For those of us who did not get that issue,
could we get an exact quote?
Don't wanna belabor the point, but...
did he mention funerals, anything at all that shows the deaths are being treated with dignity and respect, at least?

    Nothing like that

Sasquatch: "I'm the only survivor of Alpha Flight, so listen to me very carefully.."

    Thanks for the quote.

Again, it just "feels to me" like we are still dealing with a lack of respect issue when it comes to how Marvel is dealing with the death of AF. It seems like maybe they just figured that nobody much (or nobody important) cares about AF, so let's kill 'em off. Off panel. No funeral service, no nothing. Cuz they do not matter. And then, to top it off, let's force a bunch of American sooper-de-dooper heroes onto Canadian soil, and into a "new and improved" AF; but let's call it Omega Flight, cuz callin' it anything associated with Alpha Flight would be a curse ro soemthing, cuz nobody cares about AF anyways. Oh, and on second thought, we doubt anybody will buy this, so let's just make it a mini series, then let it die. After all, who cares?

We'll I'm hopin' that Mr. Oeming will do just that. And show respects somehow to the fallen Alphans. A funeral or somethin'.

Keep in mind I don't even think the Omega Flight story in Initiative was written by Mike anyways

True. Nobody here (at least, not me) is blaming Oeming for this mess. I just wish somebody would put him in charge of cleaning the mess up (and give him free reign to do it the way he wants to do it) - for some reason, I trust Oeming. It's those above him that I am not too sure about.

A funeral would be a good start. But I imagine that would make the Guardian suit discussion a bit more prickly.

Northstar: "Man I'm gonna miss Heather, Mike, and the little guy! I'm just glad you guys cloned Mac again."

    Sasquatch: "He's not a clone! That's Mac's killer and he's American!"

Northstar: "Sacre bleu! Sapriste! What the $#*^$#! Should I take the suit apart again!"

Saquatch: "Wouldn't do any good. They redesigned it so you can't do that anymore. Plus, You'd end up getting killed off panel. Save that for something dramatic they'll show on panel, like Wolverine gigging you through the chest again!"

Aurora: "He's much too beautiful to destroy anyway!"

Jefferies: "How can you tell through the mask."

Aurora: "I'm Canada's resident strumpet, I don't need to be able to see his face to know he's delicious! Plus, after the Director anyone looks good to me."

    Jefferies turns toward Aurora.

Diamond Lil: "Don't even think it Madison! You can't use that brainwashing thing as an excuse for hitting on Aurora!"

Now that is respect Isn't it?
"Well, the only person talking about love today is the preacher. And it seems noboday gets just all the learning but the teacher."
