You know, as I go through the interviews the talk of respect, research, good characters, ties to Alpha Flight, three characters with strong ties to Alpha Flight, all that, it makes me think Guardian must be someone we know, not Postman Mike. Not only does Postman Mike not show respect, he's not a former member or anything like that, it takes zero reseach to prepare to write him because he's a cypher/nobody, and he's a throwaway character. I think he's in CW: Initiative because Bendis is writing it and he likes to use his own characters; Spider-Woman was not an option, so he really had a choice of Jessica Jones and Postman Mike. He wanted anger and drive so Postman Mike won.

If it was Postman Mike as Guardian you know the character would be played for laughs:

Bad guy: "I know that voice, but where..."

Guardian: "I used to deliver your mail. Remember the time you had to sign for that death ray? You were shocked it got through customs..."

[Canucklehead]

Bad guy: "Hey did that dog pee stain over come off your pant leg?"

Guardian: "Naw, and they took the dry cleaning bill out of my pay check."

Bad guy: "Damn man. I don't know what to say. Maybe I can pay for some of that. Cheque's in the mail so you should have to wait long."

Guardian: "That's not funny."
