Thread: AF and Northstar

    Default AF and Northstar

I have a question. So, Northstar and Aurora came back and attacked the mansion. They did it in a way that was totally obvious and that involved a lot of big, noticable explosions. So, they've been caught again and are sedated in the care of the Xmen.

Um... where's Alpha Flight in all of this? We know for sure that Walter's alive, and frankly, I find it very, very hard to believe that Walter would let an old friend and his former girlfriend stay with a group of people that 'let' JP die, much less let them be around the insanity evilness with is Emma Frost. I can't quite picture Walter being that trusting.

And wouldn't someone tell Walter that his formerly dead teammate and long missing ex were alive and in the Xmen's custody? I can understand not saying anything to the students at Academy X, but to not say anything to his former group? Not to mention the fact that underneath the control of the Dawn, Northstar killed a lot of people in a way that only a flying speedster could do. Let's think about it. Even thouse Walter knew that JP was 'dead', the whereabouts of JM are still up in the air, so he would probably come to the conclusion that JM was killing people.

And with the rest of his team in a hospital getting healed (I'm guessing that's where they are) it seems like Walter would want to find the two wayward Alpha Flight members so that he could have at least some support.

I suppose what I'm wondering about is why hasn't Walter been interested in finding the twins? Hell, I'd expect him to be down at the mansion ripping Emma apart for not letting him know that JP's body was taken. This just seems so out of character.
I seriously want the Walter stuffed animal from AF #106. Seriously.

I do believe it's down to Marvel continuity, or lack of. There's been many occasions where you would think AF would have turned up, JP's death in Wolverine #25 being the most obvious. However the days when a writer would have taken all of the obvious into consideration would seem to be long gone. IE: Why didn't AF go after the Zodiac and Weapon X to retrieve former colleagues?

Driftwood: Well, I got about a foot and a half. Now, it says, uh, "The party of the second part shall be known in this contract as the party of the second part."
Fiorello: Well, I don't know about that...
    Driftwood: Now what's the matter?
Fiorello: I no like-a the second party, either.
Driftwood: Well, you should've come to the first party. We didn't get home 'til around four in the morning... I was blind for three days!

Canadians don't care for each other. They eat their young, didn't you know? They only ever went to the States to retreive Wolvie's skelleton, while looking like idiots, then return home emptyhanded, only to go back again. They didn't care about the man, just his bones. I'm sure Sasquatch will come down once he forms his new team to retreive the twins bodies and bring them to Molson to be brewed into their fine beers.

And that's the story of why Canadian beer is second to none.

    Good night, and God speed.

Dumb Marvel. >.< You'd think that basic continuity would be within their grasp. But noooo, that's too freaking hard to grasp.

I'll say this though, Walter was at JP's funeral. Granted, he was there in full on Sasquatch form which really doesn't make that much sense to me as he wasn't going into battle, but at least he was there. Except he said 'JP's heart was as big as the Canadian wilderness, and that was just horrifically 'Look! He's Canadian! Remember?! Canada! He likes hockey and maple syrup! See?!'. But at least they had a member of AF there.

But really. It's getting ridiculous. Marvel may as well be sticking their heads in the sand while saying 'Continuity is evil! Continuity is evil!' Bah.

    Some things to consider:
Walt and JP were never close.

X-Men occurs after New Avengers #16. Walt may have been on the mend.

Is the Sasquatch appearance in Generation X enough for Walt to have formed such a bad opinion of Emma frost?

Heather should have been at JP's funeral, and her reaction to one friend killing another should have been a focal point.

Department H: If the X-men called Department H about Northstar, who says the message would be passed on to Northstar's former teammates?

Other than his istser, JP was closest to Heather by the end of Volume 1 (and the NS limited series.) Yet it has still been a couple years Marvel time since they have worked together. People do lose touch.

It has not been very long Marvel time since the twins turned up in X-Men. Let's see how compressed or extended the timeframe of the upcoming annual is.
