Joe Singleton, the "Artistic License" guy over at collectortimes.com has a new post for the month of November. He decided to make a short list of the most influential costume designs in comics and Guardian has a spot on it. Here's the link...

I love the Guardian costume. I always preferred the name Vindicator too.

Vindicate: to assert, maintain or defend against opposition. to liberate, punish to get revenge or avenge.... yeah baby
Interesting how he chose the little seen "long-stemmed leaf" version of the Vindicator suit.
How could he not showcase Wonderwoman? Her costume remains the best female design ever.
He made some comments on the "circus clown" shorts seen on many costumes. I think the shorts-over-tights look rarely works. Thor, Capt America, and especially Shaman look so much better without the shorts.
The weakest costume of the "classic" Alpha Flight lineup is Snowbird. The tiara and cape are great, but the panties just wreck it.
One of the reasons the Vindicator suit "works" while Capt Canuck fails is the circus clown panties.

Influential costume design is the key word, because if it's beautiful design, I don't I agree. Sorry, but I find Cap America costume very ugly, the A on his head makes it a very good target too, not not all on his list is beautiful.
As for wonder Woman, I personnally don't know if she should be on the list, but as the bikini costume with stars on her butt, I can certainly say it's not my favorite.
It's nice to see gardian there. It's trully a good costume, but I like better the name Guardian... feel more ... Canadian?!

I like Guardian better too, though the costume isn't such a hit with me. Bu having Guardian makes more 'leadership' sense than Vindicator, which feels to me like an outsider or follower. Better than Captain Canada, some originality in having your national hero guy be Guardian.

Vindicator is an insanely cool name, but to my mind, it'll always be Heather.
I've always adored Northstar's uniforms. True, he's only really ahd about 3 different ones, but I like them. His black and white uniform that he shared with Aurora was just a classic, the 'uber patriotic' uniform was pretty good, and his uniform when he died was pretty good too. I'm sorry, but you just can't go wrong with a uniform designed by Larroca.
My current favorite uniform has to be Polaris' current one. It's still really pretty, but it's also deicdedly evil looking for a 'good guy'.
I seriously want the Walter stuffed animal from AF #106. Seriously.

As for the underwear on the outside thing, watch a ballet some time. You'll soon see why guys wear it, especially these days.
Tights without a codpiece, underwear on the outside, panel, whatever just show a little too much of their masculine attributes.
(Not that I don't think there's other ways, or see why the 'underwear' should draw attention to itself by being a different colour to the rest.)
