OVERVIEW:

http://www.alphaflight.net/reviews/sabretooth_2_review_2.jpg[/img:3603b3d496]Our story resumes with Coastguard crewman Hamilton on a northern Canadian island in a shack with two frightened children. They had been told by Sabretooth last issue to remain in the shack. Hamilton tries to reassure the children that they will be safe, as he has a gun with lots of bullets, and that he won't leave the children alone in the shack. Crying one of the children says that their Daddy had said the same things.

On board the Costguard vessel U.S.S. Polar Sun, Sasquatch Explains to Captain Mitchell that he had been flying by in Alpha Flight's tactical jet when he heard the distress signal from the ship. Sasquatch tells the Captain not to send an other team out to find the previous. He decides to do a reconissance himself and advise the captain.

Returning to the island Sasquatch yells out to someone that he can smell them, and that they have to leave the island, and that he will help them. Unexpectedly Sasquatch is hit across the head by Sabretooth with a shovel. Sasquatch jumps to his feet, and a battle erupts, with Sabretooth getting the upper hand off the bat. Sasquatch manges to turn the tables on Sabretooth holding him by the neck with one hand and smashing him in the face repetitively with the other.

Polar Sun The crew has assembled a team of volunteers who are determined to bring their crew mates back "one way or the other". Captain Mitchell realizes that the crew understands the risks involved, and allows them to go ashore to find their friends.

Returning to the battle, Sasquatch now has the upper hand on Sabretooth. Knocked down into the snow Sabretooth warns Sasquatch not to move any closer, or he'll die. Ignoring what he though to be an idle threat, Sasquatch takes a step forward, plummeting into a pit-trap, filled with sharpened staks. Sabretooth walk away leaving Sasquatch impaled on the stakes, as Sasquatch weakly says that Sabretooth is creating an imbalance, that some animals were not meant to be hunted.

The rescue team has become lost in the snow, and split apart. A hairy figure comes at them from the shadows and tears them all to pieces, one by one. One man had his arm ripped off, and taken by the attacker.

Back in the cabin, Hamilton is trying to prepare the children to make a dash with him for the Polar Sun. Out the window they seen a large hairy figure approaching the cabin, and opens the door.

REVIEW:

http://www.alphaflight.net/reviews/sabretooth_2_review_4.jpg[/img:3603b3d496]This issue had what I was expecting, and hopeing for in the battle between Sasquatch and Sabretooth. Sasquatch seemed to know just what he had to do to take Creed down, hit him hard and fast, don't give him a chance to recover. I thing Sas would have taken the battle easily if he hadn't fallen to the pit. Sasquatch would seem to know more than he is telling the captain, but just what is going on, and who is really killing all those people is yet to be seen.

The art was again a nice surprise. I really like how Sears has developed his style over the years. His Sasquatch and Sabretooth renditions still leave something to be desired, but they were better in this issue than in the last. He captures the brutality of the story very well, and gives it a bit of a horror movie feel.

An other really nice issue in this mini-series.
