Thread: What about baby Hudson

    Default What about baby Hudson

Ah, I went down to the comic store the other day and committed a cardinal sin: I read #6 of AF in the store but didn't buy it (!). I know... I know... very bad... but you wouldn't believe how expensive comics here in Oz are these days ($5.80 for an ish of AF).

Anyway, so the original Alphans have all gone to space to help the Plodex reestablish their planet... which begs the question: who's going to look after baby Hudson? Maybe Mac and Heather have a wet nurse?

You must have read it too fast. They stopped on the way to bring the baby.
Any of the Plodex should be able to serve as a (very) wet nurse.

Yes, Mac and Heather did stop by their home to get the baby. (But who was taking care of her in the meantime?)

BTW, has the Hudson baby ever been named? Yet another no-name Alpha child! (See also Walter's son and Snowbird's baby boy.)

All of this begs the question... WHY bring the baby Hudson, and risk her life if this whole Plodex-reseeding idea blows up in Alpha Flight's face? Not to mention the many, many other risks of traveling through deep space in the Marvel Universe. Good Lord, Heather, leave the child with someone RESPONSIBLE if you're so hell-bent on this Plodex thing.

Forget the name, do we even know the sex of the baby yet?

Well, space is the one places where if anything happens, you don't question it. I've got a feeling we'll see baby Hudson come back as a young adult and become a new Guardian without the need to wear a "power suit" so Jimmy and Heather can retire. Just an assumption, but come on, how many other super team leaders have had kids that age normaly? (Isn't something going on with Franklin Richards right now being the new herrald of Galactus? or is that just a rumor?)

Anyway, my thoughts. Very predictable and not very original, but possible.

You know this thread brings up a ton of questions. Where you gonna find Pampers in space? And where do you dispose of that toxic waste? The Plodex ships didn't look that big and I'm sure most of the cargo area is Plodex eggs. How's the kid gonna potty train in zero gravity?

I assume the ships have garvity fields so no worries there, as for daipers though....

Wasn't it X-men Unlimited #75 the issue where the child was born? I have it lying around here somewhere, and I was certain they established that it was a girl.

    Yes, it is a girl.

I would have preferred if Mac had gone against Heather's wishes. There are all kinds of past instances when she's been annoyed with him fo rbeing too buried in his work. It would have been perfectly in character.

So what if Heather chose to stay behind? I doubt it would have forced any changes to the current storyline. We're not going to see the originals in quite some time now I gather, so one excuse (out in space) is as agood as another (raising baby).

Maybe we're meant to believe that maybe the original Alphans weren't in their right mind? Was something influencing their thoughts?

You know I thought the same thing. What if while they were all hooked up the Plodex downloaded some false memories or something into their craniums. Somehow convincing them or making them feel they had to escort the eggs back.

Like in one episode of Star Trek Enterprise?

Having baby girl Hudson come back as a super powered teen who takes on the codename Guardian works for me.

As I said on another thread, VERY irresponsible for Walt to just let them go without thorough examinations--physical and psychological.

    Hardly irresponsible.
It's not like they're his team, or that he can tell them what to do.
