1. How long have you been collecting Alpha Flight?
I read it in French in the anthology Strange hwne I was a kid. Years later, I stopped reading comics during the Ugly years (the first part of the 90's). That's while searching for all the unpublished stories in France of Alpha Flight (it stopped at n°73 in France) that I started reading the original material. I have since follow the serie.

2. What was your first memory of Alpha Flight? If recent, what was your first reaction?
The first real strong memory I have is the death of Guardian. It was something unusual and daring then.

3. Who is you favorite Alpha Flight character?
Heater Hudson.

4. Who is you least favorite Alpha Flight character?
The phantom Girl from V. 2. and the ugly guy with the chest hair attack!

5. Who is you favorite Alpha Flight villain?
Pestilence.

6. Who is your least favorite Alpha Flight villain?
The Rock guy of alpha Flight 120.

7. What do you think is the best issue / story-arch from Alpha Flight?
Issue 43 to 49 with all those deaths, changes, departures...

Heather as Vindicator, Young James Mc Donald, Talisman, shaman, Box with inside Madison jeffries, Snowbird, Northstar, Diamond Lil and Sasquatch female.

Northstar (at least we would have sex) or if I feel confident enough James Mc Donald

It depends what you intend as best. Storywise, it was Heather because it was very difficult for her. Now, who would be a good leader? Shaman I think.

Bill Mantlo

Scott Lodbell.

Very difficult to choose...I love them for different things....Dave Ross i suppose, because I still like what he does nowadays ( unlike Jim Lee and John Byrne ).

Pat broderick: it really pains me to read his issues.

15. If you could undo one thing in Alpha Flight history, what would it be?
Hum....the return in a male body of Sasquatch. It was such a great idea to have him in a woman body. It was never fully used.

It wasn when Heather and James' daughter was born... I haVE to say, i immediately felt a strange feeling for the characters, they immediately enjoy me!

I don't know if collecting is the right term, but I have all the Byrne issues.

I was already familiar with what John had done in X-Men and FF, I grew up reading all his work, something about his art spoke to me the way the rest of the artists didn't at the time.

I'd have to say James and Puck.

Aurora used to bug me. Always flaking out.

The guy who killed Hudson the first time.

The "Pestilence" saga.

I still think the "Pestilence" storyline was best. I am probably biased as hell (given that it was my first real exposure to Alpha), and to be fair, I haven't quite finished the series yet, but that plot was so creative, shocking...mature. If I had to pick a runner up, it'd be the Purple Girl origin and ensuing subplots.

John Byrne (I wish he had done ALL the pencils from start to finish...I still collect the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Deluxe Edition comics mainly because of his cover art.

Whoever did the crappy Dreamqueen story...the colors were dazzling, but they couldn't make up for the weak, blocky-looking pencils.

15. If you could undo one thing in Alpha Flight history, what would it be?

John Byrne's having pretty much walked away from the project. Though many talented writers and artists (some of whom even penned my favorite storylines in the series) picked up the reigns and rode on as best they could, John's eclectic but genuine devotion to the original series made it the great Canadian answer to the X-men it became. I wonder sometimes if he realizes just how profound a scope of respect and admiration for Canadian culture he instilled in so many US readers by his having had the brass balls required to put forth such a supremely original effort as he did with Alpha Flight...
