Thumbs up Disney in talks to aquire Fox's entertainment division.

Marvel may finally get the X-Men and Fantastic Four characters back.

In a shocking turn of events, it's been revealed today that 21st Century Fox is looking to sell the majority of its assets to the Walt Disney Co. The sale would leave the company focusing solely on news and sports and that means the movie studio would also go to the House of Mouse. What does that mean? Well, the
    Fantastic Four
    and
    X-Men
franchises would once again belong to Marvel Studios!

On Friday, Faber said that although the two companies have not been engaged in conversations "it does appear at the very least that they have not abandoned the idea of that combination."

I'm not sure letting Disney have all the properties back is good. More variety is inevitable if properties are spread apart, less groupthink. But that's an opinion.

Disney having all the properties would've made an MCU Alpha Flight movie easier, though!

I first heard this rumour in the morning, it was quashed that same afternoon.

According to Deadline, talks have begun to progress rapidly and both sides have gone dark, leading to speculation that a deal is very close to being made.

Disney is progressing speedily toward that rumored acquisition of Fox. The version I heard has the Murdoch clan keeping possession of sports and news properties, and the rest of TV and the film studio going to Disney.

    Another update.

    Following a
    report
from earlier this week that suggested the Walt Disney Company and 21st Century Fox had resumed negotiations about a potential blockbuster deal that would see Disney acquire several major assets, including the 20th Century Fox movie and TV studio, it looks like we've received official confirmation from the
    Wall Street Journal
    .

According to the new report, talks have started to seriously heat up between Disney and Fox over the past week, but it looks like there may be some heavy competition in the form of Comcast, who also remains extremely interested in pursuing a potential deal and are "
    being very serious
" in studying Fox's assets. Sony and Verizon Communications also remain among the outside contenders.

I'm actually not sure to take all this. The merger will bring about better Fantastic Four movies and possibly an Alpha Flight movie; but it's turning into a monopoly, which is not a good thing.

    Update.

Fox Favors Disney as Buyer for Studio, Media Assets.

21st Century Fox Inc., the global film and TV company controlled by the Murdoch family, would prefer to sell some assets to Walt Disney Co. because it’s a better strategic fit and presents fewer regulatory hurdles, people familiar with the matter said.
