    Default Definite Mentions

I've just had a thought, because of something I read last night. We have a 'Possible Appearances' thread, but this is for mentions - the team gets mentioned in some context, but doesn't show up. Little things that probably aren't worth their own thread.
For example, in an issue of Byrne's run on She-Hulk (the second, I believe), she mentions the Walter / Wanda sitch.

Last night's was, of all places, in The New Teen Titans issue 37 (1987... Let's not get started on The New Teen Titans volumes; last time I tried that, a new spore of madness reigned, HQJOC came down and tore apart the land...)
On the letters page, somebody calling himself 'Postcard Man' from Grosse Pte said:
"And those wanting a gay hero: check out Northstar of Alpha Flight!". I don't know what it relates to; presumably letters I haven't read recently (or at all - I'm missing bunches of issues and didn't read them all together).

It's definitely worth a thread but I'd say in the Alpha Talk section, rather than Appearances.

Sure... I just put it in the same place as Possible Appearances.

I think we'd all be bankrupt if we bought everything that mentioned Alphans too!

I'm just thinking people will be interested to know. Please, guys, don't try to buy these things!

Oh yeah, it's definitely interesting to know.
Just giving my reasoning for it being in Talk rather than Appearances.

    Great Lakes Avengers #5:
    Uh, trigger warning:

Flatman: "You're right. We're a bad team. Somebody online once called us America's Alpha Flight."
Good Boy: "That's Not So Bad."
Flatman: "I know. It was meant as a compliment."

Avengers Academy 14.1, which I finally got my hands on for unrelated reasons, on a recent trip to the 'States.
There's a Wendigo which gets sent back to Canada; they say 'that Canadian team, Alpha Flight is taking care of it'.

    Respect!

This was probably just an ad that ran in all comics at the time, but my Epic Edition Defenders: Ashes To Ashes trade reprints an editorial from Defenders #125 (the first issue where it was The New Defenders); across the bottom of the page is a banner that reads:
    "John Byrne's
    Alpha Flight
'nuff said, eh? On sale now!"

I probably wouldn't have mentioned it if I had the issue, but it made it into the trade reprint.

I've recently come across a run of the old DC Series Arak, Son Of Thunder; this is from the letters page of #34 (non-complimentary warning!)

    Boo!

Also, from what I can tell, his costume looks nothing like Shaman's (I assume that's who they mean).

Young Justice #1, by Bendis (gah!).

Impulse is doing something (the storytelling here is not great), and he says: "Crazy day, even for me. One minute, I'm running to Canada to join Alpha -- Oh man…"

That was unexpected, in a DC book!

I'm taking that as an insult somehow...
