Re-reading that newsarama article it sounds like if the maxi is only 8 issues that we'll be getting a "Commonwealth of Heroes" book to follow, focusing on non-US teams...

See, I'd rather have AF guest star in other ongoing series to try and attract attention.
If we have only got 8 issues I'd rather not spend half an issue focusing on Wolverine.

I'd prefer a series without guest stars personally.
For me the lack of other characters means more chance for AF to shine.

Any announcement was always going to be at todays Pint O'CB panel. Patience my friend, we're almost there ;)
