• Captain Marvel #5 Sales Figures

ICV2 have published the estimated sales figures for the month of May 2016 for physical comic sales via Diamond to the North American Direct Market, which includes the placement of #5 of Captain Marvel, which features Alpha Flight members Aurora, Puck & Sasquatch in space. Please note that these don't take into account direct postal subscription copies or digital sales:

    74 CAPTAIN MARVEL #5 $3.99 23,812

    For Comparison:

    22 Captain Marvel (2016) #1 $3.99 52,972
    64 Captain Marvel (2016) #2 $3.99 28,962
    69 Captain Marvel (2016) #3 $3.99 28,469
    77 Captain Marvel (2016) #4 $3.99 25,156
    126 Captain Marvel (2014) #5 $3.99 23,666
    91 Captain Marvel (2012) #5 $2.99 28,619
    115 Alpha Flight (2011) #5 $2.99 20,731

The title drops another 1,350 sales, in a month that is generally down on sales compared to last year.
The drop is pretty consistent with previous incarnations of the title, and still stronger than the last Alpha Fight volume was, so it's not doom and gloom at all.
The next issue heralds a new creative team, and a tie-in to Marvel's summer event Civil War II so there is a chance sales may pick up slightly.
With Captain Marvel the figurehead of the crossover it's unlikely the title will end prematurely.

Not terribly surprised the story dragged and was even losing me. However, with the civil war tie in sales should increase

The first several issues of any title traditionally drop in sales. Even if the sales cut in half between #1 and #5, I think that's fairly normal.

      Oh yeah, definitely.
Plus, as mentioned, it doesn't take into account digital copies, subscription copies and international sales.
There are lots of copies sold not included in the numbers above.
