AlphaFlight.net - Wild Child To Appear in Secret Wars' Age Of Apocalypse
  • Wild Child To Appear in Secret Wars' Age Of Apocalypse

Today Marvel revealed via IGN that, as teased in October, The Age Of Apocalypse will return in July as part of Marvel's Secret Wars storyline from the creative team of Fabian Nicieza and Gerado Sandoval.

Whilst the artwork shown in the piece doesn't include Wild Child, his AoA partner-in-crime Sabretooth is shown holding his trademark chains on the gatefold cover previewed, which prompted us to reach out to Fabian via Twitter, who was kind enough to reply:

So we know that we'll at least get a bit of Alphan Action during Secret Wars, even if it's a small part.

The Age of Apocalypse originally ran for 4 months in 1995 featuring an alternate reality caused by the death of Professor X and featured several re-imagined mutant Alphans.
The series was revisited several times in the years afterwards giving us more appearances, although these did tend to result in the death of Alphan versions, most recently Wild Child in the pages if Uncanny X-Force (2010).

      "Ant-Sized Variant" - available in a 1 to 15 ratio.

"Skottie Young Variant" - available as long as stores order more copies of Age of Apocalypse #1 than 200% of All-New X-Men #36

The hunt for CYPHER brings MAGNETO’s X-MEN into confrontation with CYCLOPS & HAVOK’s ELITE MUTANT FORCE!
So, I'm guessing this means we'll see AoA Northstar and Aurora as well?

There's a one panel AoA(SW) Wild Child in today's Secret Wars Journal #3

EDIT: The panel in question has now been posted on Bleeding Cool:

Wild Child appears in one page of #1... as an agent of Apocalypse!

      No Northstar & Aurora though.

Sweet! Did it say how he got resurrected? Last time we saw him he was all chopped in half and stuff.

Also were you able to get the gatefold variant? It looks sweet but quite the pretty penny.

As with all the Battleworld domains/titles it's not the same AoA as the previous one, it's essentially a What If from the moment the AoA was conceived, hences Sabes and WC (seemingly) being on Apocalypse's side.
The Gutheries are all alive, so there's a chance we could get JP & JM later on.

Nope, none of my three stores had it, all ordering under 200 copies.

Yeah it's not the AoA Wild Child were used to. In fact the entire universe including basically all the occupants were destroyed in the "X-Termination" event

That Skottie Young Variant cover was reprinted (inked version, naturally) in today's "Color Your Own Young Marvel by Skottie Young" coloring book:

It's got a ton of other fun images but that one is the funnest.

The Women of Power coloring book is also solicited. The cover is a partially colored reprint of A-Force #1 with Snowbird and Aurora. Awesome. Release is Sep 2016.
